McLeod Ganj is a hill station near Dharamshala in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Because of its large Tibetan population, it is known as "Little Lhasa" or "Dhasa" (a short form of Dharamshala used primarily by Tibetans). The twin towns of Forsyth Ganj and McLeod Ganj grew steadily over the next few years, becoming important centers of trade, commerce, and official work in Kangra District by 1904. McLeod Ganj has an elevation of 2,082 meters on average (6,831 feet). It is located in the Dhauladhar Mountains.
